Super Bot Brawl Beginner Guide: How to Survive Your First Waves
What to do first in Super Bot Brawl: portals, the tutorial, races, artifacts, and the full-HP switch rule.

01What the game asks you to do first
Super Bot Brawl drops you in as a soldier of the "Gear Alliance," fighting a robot army that has invaded Roblox. That framing comes straight from the developer's own game description, read on the Roblox page on 6 September 2026: pick a race, level it up to unlock stronger characters, open lucky blocks and equip artifacts to get stronger, and eventually control the biggest colossi to fight back.
The loop underneath that framing is simple: fight waves of bots for money and experience, spend money on lucky blocks for artifacts and potions, and put levels into whichever race you have chosen so higher-tier characters unlock. There is no premise beyond that and no secret list to memorise before you start; the rest of this page is the order of operations that gets a new player through the first hour without wasting a private server session.
02Spawn sends you through a portal — consider skipping to a private server instead
On spawn there are three portals that send you into different public servers. Rox, reviewing the game on its release day, called the map "huge" and specifically suggested grinding in a private server rather than picking a portal at random (Rox, 25 August 2026, video m8RxOQnF2Xc). The developer's own description repeats the same advice almost verbatim: "Playing in private servers is highly recommended."
03What the public server browser actually looks like
That advice tracks with what the public server list actually looks like. A snapshot of the public server browser on 6 September 2026 showed a long tail: the least-populated servers sampled were sitting at 2 to 3 players, while the most-populated were at 5 to 7 out of the 7-player cap. A private server sidesteps that variance entirely and gives you a server built around your own pace, which matters more early on than it will once you know the map.
04Finish the tutorial before you touch anything else
Completing the new-player tutorial hands you the Sword Brute automatically, on top of the Sword Soldier you start with. DigitizedPixels called this out directly while touring the character menu two days after launch: "we got the sword brute which essentially you get after doing the tutorial which is amazing" (DigitizedPixels, 27 August 2026, video _TB3VEL9bwI). It costs a few minutes and is the cheapest upgrade in the entire game, so there is no reason to skip it to rush into waves.
05One caution on how character power actually works
Race levels, not individual characters, carry your progress. A separate video touring the golden-skin system put it plainly: each race has its own level, and "each character is base, it's just flat — there's no levels for each character, it is for the whole group" (DigitizedPixels, 29 August 2026, video kEkZIlKwcnQ). Playing a given character more does not make that character stronger on its own; only levelling the race unlocks the next, stronger character in line. Treat that as one player's reading of the system rather than a confirmed rule, since it comes from a single recording.
06Choosing a race: Sword, Bomb, or the newer Bazooka
At launch there were exactly two races to choose between, Sword and Bomb, confirmed independently by both Rox's day-one video and DigitizedPixels's tour two days later (Rox, 25 August 2026, video m8RxOQnF2Xc; DigitizedPixels, 27 August 2026, video _TB3VEL9bwI). Sword is the race you start closer to finishing: the tutorial reward above is a Sword character, and its early tiers ask for level alone rather than crafting materials.
Bomb is different: one video shows it has to be bought open with a specific combination of in-game money and boss-drop materials rather than simply levelled into, and the presenter himself was not certain which bosses reliably drop the material needed (DigitizedPixels, 29 August 2026, video aqRUQ0GGZLI). A new player without any boss-drop materials yet has no such gate on Sword, which is the practical reason to start there.
07Bazooka is the newest race, and it needs a boss drop from endless mode
Bazooka was added on 5 September 2026 as part of the developer's "UPDATE 1," unlocked through a new material dropped by a boss that appears every 50 waves in endless mode, per the developer's own patch description. That is a mode a beginner is unlikely to have reached yet, so Bazooka is realistically a later-game race choice rather than a starting one. For the full unlock ladder, character tiers, and what each higher-tier character actually does, see the races page on this site.
08Buy lucky blocks and equip up to three artifacts
Money earned from fighting bots buys lucky blocks in the in-game shop; opening them is the only way to get most artifacts, aside from a handful given as quest rewards. DigitizedPixels's tour lists the pool from a normal lucky block by name: regenerative coil, speed coil, boss cola, cheeseburger, sword artifact, bomb artifact, zombie staff, and a rarer bazooka artifact — distinct from the Bazooka race of the same name (DigitizedPixels, 27 August 2026, video _TB3VEL9bwI).
Whatever you pull, you can only have three artifacts equipped at once, and rainbow-tier versions of any artifact are locked behind quests rather than being purchasable, a rule stated the same way in both the day-one video and the tutorial tour (Rox, 25 August 2026, video m8RxOQnF2Xc; DigitizedPixels, 27 August 2026, video _TB3VEL9bwI). Removing an artifact from your loadout deletes it permanently rather than refunding any material, according to a single account that also flagged the missing recycle option as a complaint, so decide before you equip rather than after. For what each named artifact actually does where that has been shown on camera, see the artifacts page on this site.
09You cannot switch characters unless you are at full health
Super Bot Brawl only lets you swap between unlocked characters while standing at full HP, the same restriction the developer's earlier game, Super Toilet Brawl, used (DigitizedPixels, 27 August 2026, video _TB3VEL9bwI). In practice that means you cannot panic-swap into a tankier character mid-fight once you are already low; the swap has to happen before a fight gets rough, or after you have retreated and healed.
The practical habit this creates: check your health bar before you open the character menu, not after. If you are running potions, use a healing option or fall back to a safer spot first, then switch — trying to switch while under fire and below full health will simply fail to change anything.
10The developer is telling you, directly, to expect bugs
The game's own description does not hide behind marketing language about its early state: "This game is new and will have lots of bugs, and possibly some balancing issues. I am currently working on addressing as many of those as possible." That same description is where the private-server recommendation above comes from.
Practically, that means a beginner should not read a single bad run, a stat that looks broken, or a character that seems overtuned as a permanent feature of the game. The 5 September 2026 update description confirms the developer is actively changing balance: it accompanied a patch in which most artifacts and golden character variants were rebalanced, only ten days after launch.
11Where to go deeper once you are past the first hour
This page is only the order of operations for getting started. Once the tutorial is done, a race is chosen, and a private server is running, the next decisions are all covered elsewhere on this site in more depth than a beginner page can hold.
- The races page covers the full Sword, Bomb, and Bazooka unlock ladders, character by character, including which tiers need levels alone and which need crafting materials.
- The artifacts page goes through every named artifact and potion seen so far, what is confirmed about its effect, and what is still unconfirmed because no video has shown it triggering on camera.
- The easy, normal, and hard page compares the three difficulty badges directly, including the win-rate figures Roblox's own badge data reports for each mode.
- The money page covers how in-game cash is earned and spent, including the separate Noob Cash currency and the crafting materials that gate the Bomb and Bazooka races.
12What we have not checked
A handful of things relevant to a brand-new player are still open. Whether the fixed-stats-per-character claim in this guide holds for every race, or was only ever true for the specific character it was described on, has not been checked against a second source; playing through several race tiers on the same character over time and comparing damage numbers would settle it.
Whether the game still shows a Robux-based cash shop, seen on camera on 27 August 2026, has not been re-checked against the live game as of this writing; opening the in-game shop menu on the current build would settle it directly, and comparing that against the developer product listing would clarify whether it was ever a Game Pass rather than a consumable purchase.
A comment thread mentions a "danger zone" near the map edge with a five-second death countdown, but no video shows this happening on screen; standing at the map's edge in a private server for over five seconds would confirm or rule it out in under a minute.
Whether the age rating shown on the Roblox store page today still carries any of the 16+ restriction that comment threads describe from launch week has not been checked directly against the live listing; opening the store page and reading the rating panel would settle it.
Play a fresh account through the tutorial and first race tier in a private server, screenshot the character stat panel before and after a level-up, and re-check the live Roblox store page and shop menu on the same day.

Frequently asked
What should I do first in Super Bot Brawl?
Finish the tutorial for a free Sword Brute, then pick either a spawn portal or, as both the developer and an early reviewer recommend, start a private server instead. From there, level the Sword race before worrying about Bomb or Bazooka.
Should I play Super Bot Brawl in a private server?
Both the developer's own description and a day-one review recommend it. Public servers observed on 6 September 2026 ranged from 2-3 players up to 5-7 out of a 7-player cap, so a private server gives a more predictable pace for a new player.
How do I get the Sword Brute in Super Bot Brawl?
Complete the new-player tutorial. One reviewer confirmed it is handed out automatically on top of the starting Sword Soldier as soon as the tutorial finishes, at no extra cost in money or materials.
Can you switch characters mid-fight in Super Bot Brawl?
Only while at full health. The game blocks character swaps below full HP, the same rule the developer used in its earlier game Super Toilet Brawl, so plan a swap before a fight gets dangerous rather than during it.
What race should a beginner choose in Super Bot Brawl?
Sword, at least at first. It is the race the tutorial reward belongs to and its early tiers are unlocked with levels alone, while Bomb requires a specific set of crafting materials and Bazooka requires a boss-drop material from endless mode.
How many artifacts can I equip in Super Bot Brawl?
Three at a time. Duplicates of the same artifact stack their effect rather than being wasted, and rainbow-tier artifacts can only come from quest rewards, not from buying lucky blocks directly.
